Nail gel

Nail gel

The packaging of gel nail polish is similar to that of traditional nail polish—each comes with an integrated brush for direct application. However, since gel nail polish cures when exposed to light, the outside of the gel polish bottle must be coated with a layer of paint to prevent light from penetrating. Gel nail polish boasts characteristics such as being non-toxic, odorless, and environmentally friendly. It combines the glossy finish of gel with the vibrant color of oil-based polishes. As a symbol of the latest trend in manicuring, gel nail polish differs from conventional nail polishes in that its raw materials are derived from natural resins, giving it eco-friendly, non-toxic, and health-safe properties.

Vacuum plating

Vacuum plating

As is well known, by depositing a thin film onto the surface of certain materials, it is possible to endow those materials with numerous new and improved physical and chemical properties. In the 1970s, the primary methods for coating surfaces were electroplating and chemical plating. The former involves passing an electric current through an electrolyte, causing the ions in the electrolyte to be deposited onto the substrate, which serves as the other electrode. Consequently, for this type of coating to work effectively, the substrate must be an excellent electrical conductor, and it is also difficult to precisely control the thickness of the resulting film.

Glossy paper

Glossy paper

Gloss coatings for paper are varnishes used for coating and decorating book and magazine covers, advertising posters, outer packaging cartons for goods, decorative paper bags, and other similar applications, thereby enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the coated surfaces. Previously, the conventional method of applying a gloss finish to paper involved adhering a layer of polyethylene or polypropylene film onto the paper surface. The application process included steps such as glue coating and film lamination, followed by a waiting period for the interlayer adhesive to cure. Overall, this method featured low production efficiency, higher technical requirements for application, and uncertain durability of the plastic film, especially when the products were intended for long-term use.

UV-curable coating

UV-curable coating

UV-curable coatings are a new type of coating that gained popularity in Europe, the United States, Japan, and other regions at the end of the 20th century. Initially used for surface finishing of furniture, flooring, mobile phones, and portable audio player casings, their application has now expanded further to include cosmetic containers, household appliances such as televisions, mobile phones, and computers, as well as other sectors like motorcycles and clear-coat finishes.

Common Issues and Solutions for UV Coatings

Common Issues and Solutions for UV Coatings

UV varnish is a transparent coating, sometimes referred to as UV lacquer. After being sprayed or rolled onto the substrate surface and exposed to UV light, it transforms from a liquid state into a solid state, thereby hardening the surface. This coating offers excellent scratch and abrasion resistance, while also giving the surface a glossy, aesthetically pleasing appearance with a smooth, rounded texture. However, during use, certain issues frequently arise. Below are some common problems and their corresponding solutions.

Development Trends of Water-Based Wood Coatings Over the Next Ten Years

Development Trends of Water-Based Wood Coatings Over the Next Ten Years

Water-based wood coatings entered the market later than oil-based wood coatings, and to this day, they still account for less than 5% of the total volume of wood coatings. Consequently, opportunities to apply water-based wood coatings are significantly fewer than those for oil-based wood coatings. Naturally, it’s no surprise that very few people have accumulated extensive experience in applying water-based wood coatings, let alone developed complete and mature application processes for them.

Regarding oligomers, an introduction to oligomers in UV-curable coatings

Regarding oligomers, an introduction to oligomers in UV-curable coatings

In light-curable coatings, oligomers serve as the equivalent of resins in conventional coatings—they are both film-forming substances. Their properties play a crucial role in determining the overall performance of the coating. Structurally, oligomers must possess photopolymerizable groups, such as various unsaturated double bonds or epoxy groups, and thus belong to the category of photosensitive resins. Among all the components of a light-curable coating, oligomers constitute the main body of the formulation; their properties essentially dictate the key performance characteristics of the cured material. Therefore, the synthesis and selection of oligomers undoubtedly represent an important step in the formulation design of light-curable coatings.
