BH-5103P (3PO‑GPT) is a bio-based propoxylated glycerol and an important intermediate for synthesizing reactive diluents. It reacts with acrylic or methacrylic acids to produce UV‑curable monomers, which are used in UV‑cured coatings and inks. This triol features a propoxy chain and a branched structure, imparting exceptional flexibility to the molecule; it is also suitable for the synthesis of rigid polyurethane foams, rigid adhesives, and polyurethane sealants. Additionally, it can be employed as a plasticizer, lubricant, dispersant, and more.

Recommended Use

(1) Coatings/Inks Field

3PO‑GPT is a key raw material for synthesizing the reactive diluent tripropylene glycol triacrylate (3PO‑GPTA). The resulting 3PO‑GPTA not only effectively reduces system viscosity and enhances application flow and leveling, but its trifunctional structure also enables the formation of a robust crosslinked network during UV curing, imparting high hardness, excellent scratch resistance, and superior adhesion to coatings. It is particularly well suited for coating applications on plastic substrates and flexible packaging inks that demand stringent performance in terms of flexibility and chemical resistance.

(2) Rigid Polyurethane Foam Sector

In polyurethane foam systems, 3PO‑GPT, with its distinctive hydrophobic segments and moderate functionality, effectively controls the cell structure of the foam and enhances the product’s resistance to damp‑heat aging. The methyl side chains in its molecular structure promote the formation of uniform, fine cells, making it suitable for producing dense rigid polyurethanes. Typical end‑use applications include flooring, structural castings, and coatings, particularly where high stiffness is required.

(3) Polyurethane Sealant Sector

3PO‑GPT exhibits excellent hydrolytic stability and enduring flexibility in sealant systems. The methyl groups on its side chains effectively inhibit water penetration, significantly enhancing the sealant’s durability in humid environments. The combination of flexible ether linkages in the polymer chain and a moderate crosslink density ensures stable mechanical properties across a wide temperature range. It is particularly recommended for waterproof sealing and for joints in underground structures and other damp conditions, guaranteeing long‑term, reliable sealing performance.
