Key Process Points for Tin-Free UV Resin

Key Process Points for Tin-Free UV Resin

The key process considerations for tin‑free UV resins encompass systematic control across storage conditions, application methods, and curing parameters. Compared with conventional UV resins, tin‑free formulations contain photoinitiators and, in some cases, are based on waterborne dispersion systems; therefore, during use, particular attention must be paid to critical factors such as temperature management, light‑protected sealing, selection of application techniques, and substrate compatibility. Mastering these process essentials helps ensure consistent product quality and reliable performance in application.

Curing requirements for tin-free UV resin

Curing requirements for tin-free UV resin

The curing process of tin-free UV resins involves photoinitiators generating free radicals upon exposure to ultraviolet light, which in turn initiate crosslinking polymerization of acrylate double bonds. Curing requirements encompass multiple factors, including the choice of light source, energy control, environmental conditions, and process parameters. Compared with conventional UV resins, tin-free formulations offer greater flexibility in curing: they are compatible with traditional mercury‑lamp curing as well as LED‑UV and low‑energy curing systems, and some products even support dual‑cure technologies.

Synthesis process of tin-free UV resin

Synthesis process of tin-free UV resin

The synthesis of tin‑free UV resins encompasses a complete process flow, from raw material preparation and catalytic reaction to aqueous dispersion. At its core, this approach employs a novel catalytic system based on bismuth salts in combination with specific acids, enabling the efficient production of polyurethane acrylates under tin‑free conditions. The entire process requires precise control of reaction temperature, continuous monitoring of isocyanate group content, and aqueous dispersion to achieve low VOC emissions, thereby representing a significant step toward the environmentally friendly advancement of UV resin synthesis.

Selection of Raw Materials for Tin-Free UV Resins

Selection of Raw Materials for Tin-Free UV Resins

The selection of raw materials for tin‑free UV resins involves a systematic approach, spanning oligomer backbones, alternative catalytic systems, reactive diluents, and additives. Unlike conventional UV resins, the hallmark of tin‑free formulations lies in employing non‑tin catalysts to synthesize polyurethane acrylates, while integrating environmentally friendly attributes—such as waterborne formulation, benzene‑free composition, low MEHQ content, and bio‑based components—into the recipe design. The choice of each raw material directly influences the resin’s catalytic efficiency, product transparency, and the performance characteristics of the resulting coating.
